Her court appearance comes after she allegedly stabbed her 26-year-old boyfriend to death following a domestic dispute on Sunday night. Police said they received the report at around 8pm and immediately attended the scene.
Mahalapye Police Station commander, Superintendent Ntoko Simane, said the couple was in a romantic relationship.
However, the circumstances surrounding the misunderstanding that allegedly led to the fatal attack are still under investigation.
'The deceased sustained a deep stab wound to the left side of his chest. He was certified dead on arrival at Mahalapye Hospital by doctors,' he said when confirming the incident.
Ntoko added that the woman, who is the deceased's girlfriend, was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder.
'The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. She is expected to be arraigned before the Mahalapye Magistrate's Court sometime this week on a charge of murder,' he said.
Meanwhile, Simane expressed concern over the rising number of murder cases, particularly those involving intimate partners. He appealed to members of the public, especially couples, to resolve their differences peacefully and refrain from resorting to violence.
'We continue to urge people to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes. Violence should never be an option, as it often results in tragic and irreversible consequences,' he said.
Police investigations into the incident continue.
