Pilot Vacancy Opens at Kgalagadi National Park

 

PILOT (SURVEILLANCE & LOGISTICS)

– KGALAGADI NATIONAL PARK

African Parks through Kgalagadi Management Company is recruiting

a Pilot for remote bush operations in the Botswana sector of the

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. This 2‑year fixed‑term role provides

essential aerial support for conservation, including low‑level

surveillance, anti‑poaching monitoring, wildlife tracking, and logistical

resupply missions. When not flying, the pilot supports ground logistics,

maintenance, and operational administration.

Key Responsibilities

l

Aerial Operations: Conduct low-level aerial surveillance, anti-

poaching patrols, wildlife censuses, and ecological tracking

missions as directed by ground leadership.

l Aircraft Maintenance: Perform daily inspections, support AMEs,

maintain Rotax engines, manage airstrips, hangars, tools, and fuel

quality.

l Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate flight logs, assist with

aviation authority documentation, and report incidents.

l Ground Support: Assist with logistics, infrastructure upkeep, IT

basics, and ranger safety briefings.

Minimum Requirements

l Valid CPL or higher, Savannah STOL rating, 500+ PIC hours,

Instrument Rating, and Class 1 Medical.

l Mechanical aptitude with Rotax 912.

l Proven bush‑flying, STOL, and remote‑desert operating experience.

l Strong English communication, integrity, and commitment to

conservation.

Duty Station

Remote base within Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Botswana).
