The victim was reportedly found by his elder brother at around 6am on Sunday with a stab wound to the chest. He was rushed to a local clinic for emergency treatment before being referred to Princess Marina Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Confirming the incident, Thamaga Acting Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Maimane Phele, said police are still piecing together the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.
'At this stage, we do not know who stabbed the deceased or what led to the incident. We are still investigating whether he was involved in a fight, whether he was attacked, or what exactly transpired. However, judging from the injuries, it appears he was stabbed with a sharp object,' said Phele.
He added that no arrests have been made and the motive for the attack remains unknown.
'We do not yet know who committed the offence, but investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify, locate, and arrest the suspect or suspects,' he said.
Phele appealed to members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully instead of resorting to violence, urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to report it to the nearest police station.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.
