In a statement, officials said the investment has transformed the store into one of the country's most modern supermarkets, while creating 10 new permanent jobs and demonstrating the retail chain’ continued confidence in Botswana.
“The store has been upgraded to Pick n Pay's latest specifications with a state-of-the-art hot foods and fast-food department, brand new bakery and butchery, expanded fresh produce and convenience meals, and more than 2,000 new products,” officials said. “Customers will also find significantly expanded ranges in edible grocery, Asian and international foods, baby products, toiletries, wines, pet care and the affordable Pick n Pay DAY range,” they added.
Leon de Lange, Pick n Pay Botswana general manager, said the Riverwalk relaunch reflects the company’s commitment to serving every customer and providing greater choice with expanded ranges.
“We are equally committed to lowering the cost of everyday essentials through competitive shelf pricing, compelling promotions and continued investment in value combinations,” he said.
De Lange added that the relaunch is built around the message 'Come Home to Pick n Pay' - an open invitation to customers who have supported Riverwalk for over two decades to return and experience a completely renewed shopping environment.
“It is both a thank you to loyal customers and a promise that Pick n Pay will continue investing in them,” he said.
Riverwalk has been designated as Pick n Pay Botswana's flagship training store. It will become the benchmark for customer service, merchandising, fresh food execution and operational excellence, with best practices rolled out across the country.
'For many families, Riverwalk has been their local Pick n Pay for more than two decades. “We have missed our customers while the refurbishment was under way and cannot wait to welcome them home. “Every improvement has been made with our customers in mind, and my team is proud to provide the warm, friendly service that Pick n Pay is known for,' said Martha Tshaila, Store Manager, Pick n Pay Riverwalk.
To celebrate the reopening, the first 100 Smart Shopper customers each day during the launch promotion will receive 24% off their shopping, which officials said highlights Pick n Pay's commitment to rewarding loyalty while growing the Smart Shopper programme in Botswana.
