They will be joined by Zambian giants, Nkana FC in the one-day spectacular set to be played at Obed Itani Chilume stadium. Managing director of HSNV group of companies, Boikhutso Ramahobo, said they found the need to organise the tournament to help teams prepare for next season as well as create some football activity around Francistown.
Ramahobo also said they are still yet to finalise some details including how the participating teams will be remunerated.
He said the Friday event was just the launch to create awareness so that whoever wants to be part of the main event as the partner of sponsor can still join.
“Today was just the launch because we believe there maybe some potential partners who would like to be part of the event,” he said at the launch of the competition on Friday
“That is why we don’t want to commit any figures for now.”
He said the intention is to share gate takings amongst the participating teams as well as pay appearance fees considering the expenses that accompany the running of the clubs.
Ramahobo also revealed that Tonota FC as a football team is amongst the companies that fall under the HSNV group. He said they understand the struggles associated with local football and will try to lay a helping hand where possible.
“We believe this tournament will be beneficial to local businesses. It will also help the participating teams in preparing for the coming season. We have invited Zambian side, Nkana FC to the tournament this year and our plan is to make this an annual event,” he added.
FRAFA chairperson, Carlos Motaung said the plan is to decorate Francistown with football activities adding that the Tati River cup comes at the right time.
Nkana FC CEO, Mwanza Kapianga said they are humbled by the invitation.
