Showa unmoved amidst ouster efforts

Campaign flyers calling for the ouster of Showa are being circulated, who came into power in August last year. He replaced Peter Kesitilwe, who resigned in a huff following a heated AGM in Palapye.
Now, less than 12 months later, Showa faces a hostile section from some of the 16 BFL shareholders who are mounting a campaign for his ouster.
Flyers, boldly written 'Showa Out', are making rounds on social media as the BFL shareholders prepare to meet at Lekidi Centre. In the flier, Showa is accused of failure to secure meaningful sponsorships, the balance sheet being in the red, lack of progress on key leadership positions and that the league is in disarray, amongst others.
Gaborone United, Matebele and Mochudi Centre Chiefs are reportedly amongst leading clubs that want a change of guard at BFL.
However, Showa told MmegiSport that he is unmoved, accusing those behind the plot of being disruptive.
'An official meeting has been called, with a detailed agenda for BFL shareholders to be updated on the good work the board and the Secretariat have been doing in the past few months, especially since I became chairman on August 15, 2025. Part of the work includes restoring the confidence of sponsors in the League, which this small group of chaps repeatedly undermines through their baseless and faceless campaigns,' he said.
'They seem to be unhappy that the board is neutral and they can't have their way. The board is ensuring that all BFL shareholders have an equal voice. So, I am neither moved nor irritated by their latest stunt. They even tried to prevent me from standing for the chairmanship a few months ago. I very much look forward to engaging with them and all other shareholders at our meeting on July 11, 2026.'
