The report was signed by former BNSC chairperson Marumo Morule on behalf of the eight members dismissed by the minister in February. But Kelebeng today told MmegiSport that he had not received the report.
'Which report are you talking about. It never reached my office,' Kelebeng said.
The undated report titled 'Board Handover Report' raises a number of governance concerns at the BNSC, including procurement procedures and questions the appointment of the current chief executive officer, Olebile Sikwane. The ex-board challenges its dismissal, arguing there were no reasons advanced by Kelebeng for the action, contrary to the BNSC Act of 2014, which outlines 'procedures for the appointment, tenure and removal of individual board members.' The members said that despite repeated efforts to meet Kelebeng, their attempts have hit a brick wall.
'To date, our efforts to facilitate a meeting with Minister Kelebeng have been futile,' the members said. The report has stirred up a hornet's nest, laying bare divisions within the apex bodies that run sport.
