Mdu Tha Party

Premiering on Channel O on 26 June 2026, the music video reaction and countdown show will once again place local artists and creatives in the spotlight, offering audiences an entertaining platform dedicated entirely to Botswana's music videos and the talent behind them. The new season, spearheaded by host and creative director Mdu Tha Party, will comprise 20 episodes split between 10 Reaction Shows and 10 Countdown Shows. Each week, a panel of musicians, DJs, filmmakers and industry personalities will watch five selected Botswana music videos, share their unfiltered reactions and score each production out of five. The combined scores will determine the official BotsTop5 chart rankings.

For Mdu Tha Party, the show represents more than entertainment; it is a platform designed to strengthen industry relationships and showcase the collaborative effort behind every music video. 'This is an opportunity for Batswana to celebrate one another, especially our creatives,' he said. 'From models and actors to videographers, DJs and dancers, we're showcasing the full music ecosystem while pushing for stronger collaboration and higher standards across the industry.' Season 2 boasts an impressive lineup of guest personalities drawn from across Botswana's entertainment landscape. Among those appearing on the show are EY Brizzy, Dada Kavino, Freddie Pro, Kele Megano, Tiimaney, JDK, DJ Chabo, Truly Botlhoko, Melanie Monare, DJ Lentle, Candie Da Baddie, Salome, Tkay Lenin, FME DJs, ReMmogo Visuals, Kedi Lezozo, Chokoma, Chef Gustos, Ozi F Teddy, Katlego Ramphaleng, Scar, Jonny Pula & Triccs, CvshyMulla, Pulane Renee, Ubuntu Band, Lioness Ratang, Pureezy, Cyc Jouzy, Sadi Dikgaka, Menzile Chester, Gape Makwati and MissGeeKays. The format remains straightforward but engaging. Reaction episodes allow guests to critique and rank videos in real time, while the accompanying Countdown episodes reveal the week's Top 5 music videos based on cumulative scores. The concept blends entertainment, industry commentary, and healthy competition among local artists.

Produced entirely in Botswana, the series employs a dynamic three-camera setup and draws visual inspiration from the energetic music television formats that helped shape African pop culture, particularly the classic Channel O era that many viewers remember fondly. Fashion also remains a key part of the production's identity. Returning sponsor Collections by BK Proctor once again provides wardrobe styling, supported by Urban Soul, Glotto, Kasi and Go Hard.

The production is sponsored by the Copyright and Intellectual Property Authority of Botswana (CIPA) through the Levy on Technical Devices Fund, an initiative aimed at supporting and capacitating local creative productions across television, film, live events and print media. With local content increasingly gaining traction across regional and continental platforms, the return of BotsTop5 arrives at a significant moment for Botswana's entertainment sector. By placing artists, directors, producers and other creatives at the center of the conversation, the show continues its mission of amplifying local talent while encouraging audiences to engage more actively with Botswana's music industry. BotsTop5 Season 2 premieres exclusively on Channel O on Friday, 26 June 2026, with the Reaction Show airing at 19:00, followed by the Countdown Show at 19:30.
