The incident occurred at around 8 pm along the Gaborone-Molepolole road near the Mogoditshane Block 9 turn-off, where the pair had parked the vehicle and were chatting.

Confirming the incident, Mogoditshane Acting Police Station Commander, Superintendent Mompoloki Ramaphoi, said an unknown man suddenly approached the couple and attacked them.

'While they were relaxing in the vehicle, the suspect pounced on them, threatened them with a knife and demanded money and their mobile phones,' Ramaphoi said.

During the robbery, the suspect allegedly scratched the young man's right hand with the knife, robbed them of their mobile phone, and drove away with the man's Honda Fit.

Ramaphoi said the stolen vehicle was later recovered the same night near the African Mall in Gaborone. 'The vehicle was found abandoned, unlocked, and with the keys still inside. However, the car battery had been removed and stolen,' he said.

Police have since launched investigations to identify and arrest the suspect. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is urged to report to the nearest police station.
