Passenger killed in truck collision near Matsitama junction

Confirming the incident, Tatitown Police Station Commander, Superintendent Oscar Bayani, said police received a report of the accident at around 6:30 am. The accident occurred on the A30 road at Matakana settlement near the Matsitama Junction.
According to Bayani, the accident involved two trucks travelling in the same direction. One of the trucks, which was loaded with potatoes, had suffered a tyre puncture, prompting the driver to stop on the roadside to change the damaged tyre.
“The accident involved two trucks that were travelling in the same direction. One truck, loaded with potatoes, had a puncture, and the driver stopped to change the tyre. Another truck approached from behind and collided with the stationary vehicle. The deceased, who was a passenger in the moving truck, sustained injuries during the collision,” said Bayani.
The injured passenger was rushed to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital for medical attention, but later succumbed to his injuries. Both truck drivers escaped the accident without sustaining any injuries. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.
