The woman, who lived at a cattle post on the outskirts of Robelela, was reported missing by her family on Wednesday after she left home intending to travel to Mmadinare Clinic for a check-up and never returned.

According to Selebi-Phikwe Police Station commander, Superintendent Moathodi Makumula, the deceased was found on Friday at around 6:30am by a passerby lying in a pool of blood along a roadside on the outskirts of the village.

“The woman had sustained serious injuries to her head and hands. Preliminary observations at the scene revealed footprints and signs of a struggle, suggesting that there was a confrontation before she was killed,” Makumula said.

He added that investigations have established that the deceased was last seen being given a lift by a man who resides in the same cattle post area. The pair were reportedly seen leaving Robelela village together in the man's donkey cart.

“The deceased sustained head injuries, suggesting that she was hit with a blunt object. The man who was last seen with her is currently being sought by police. We have since found his donkey cart abandoned in the bush, and investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest him,” Makumula said.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
