Facing motion of no confidence: Kesekang

Notwane and Maun Heroes netball clubs have signed a letter submitted to the BONA national executive committee demanding Kesekang's ouster. Another letter against Kesekang was submitted by TASC and Uprising Netball Club, but the document was rejected on the grounds that it was not signed. According to Notwane and Maun Heroes, the vice president-technical has failed to adequately coordinate and strengthen technical structures, failure to be result-oriented and advance coaching as well as umpiring.

“Better coaches will produce better tactics and players, better athlete welfare and stronger national teams. Botswana national teams' rankings have been relegated from four to seven in Africa and from 16 to 27 in the World. The standard of umpiring has deteriorated as evidenced during the current leaguer based on the identified issues such as inconsistent rule interpretation, unfair competitions, unprofessional officiating and wrong game reports,” the letter reads. The letter further states that netball coaches have been appointed without merit or visible evidence to justify the appointment to such structures. The two clubs added that coaches and athletes are selected based on favouritism and friendship rather than performance and the strength of an individual.

Notwane and Maun Heroes argue that there has been a lack of strategic direction in technical development, poor supervision and coordination of technical committees. Kesekang is accused of failure to promote the objectives and interests of BONA, loss of stakeholder confidence, and reputational and operational impact. “The resolution is for BONA to adopt the motion of no confidence against the vice president-technical, and he should vacate the office. Establish an interim arrangement pending election or the appointment of a substantive office bearer,” the letter reads in part. BONA president, Mpopi Moatlhodi said she was aware of the motion of no confidence against her vice president.
