Renowned for its premium nostalgic atmosphere, the 70s & 80s Disco Party returns this weekend, promising revellers a vibrant trip down memory lane and a warm respite as the winter chill begins to set in. Bongo Maffin was roped in at the last minute to replace Brothers of Peace (BOP), who have since pulled out due to unforeseen circumstances relating to travel documentation affecting some members of the group. In a statement, promoter Bambi-elle Creations and event partners The Grand Palm Resort said they fulfilled all required logistical, contractual and administrative obligations to facilitate the participation of the artists. “Known for their electrifying performances and timeless hits, Bongo Maffin will bring exceptional energy and vibrant atmosphere to the 70s & 80s Disco Party experience, ensuring a memorable and high-quality event for all attendees,” Bambie-elle Creations said in a statement. The organisers have promised to deliver an exceptional event, nonetheless.
The event organisers revealed that this year’s edition promises an exceptional evening of world-class entertainment, celebrating timeless old-school music and culture from the 70s and 80s, while introducing a special 90s element in commemoration of Grand Palm Hotel Casino Convention Resort’s 30-year milestone. The event will feature an impressive lineup of celebrated artists, headlined by Bongo Maffin. The local lineup includes DJ Lefatshe, DJ Mimi, DJ Bat’s Matash, DJ Frostbite, and DJ Jam-N-l, among others, ensuring a dynamic and engaging musical showcase. “As we celebrate 30 years of Grand Palm, this event represents more than entertainment; it is a reflection of our legacy in shaping memorable experiences.
The integration of the 90s into the 70s & 80s Disco Party is a strategic and meaningful expansion that honours the evolution of music and lifestyle across generations,” Motlaleng said during a press conference recently. She stated that, as the Grand Palm Hotel Casino Convention Resort, they are proud to host an event of such magnitude, one that reinforces their position as a leading destination for premier events and cultural celebrations in Botswana.
