Alleged man-eater on police assault charges

The incident occurred last Wednesday morning. According to a witness, who preferred anonymity, the woman was stopped and told her charge.

She allegedly went berserk after police gave her the ticket. She grabbed one officer's arm and chewed on it.

Another officer tried to intervene and was not spared the sudden bout of cannibalism.

The woman left her car, only to show up later to collect it in the company of a male friend.

She then grabbed the police receipt book and tore it before hastening away. At the Gaborone West Police Station yesterday, the woman attempted to plead with the police to withdraw the charge.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the woman works for the Debswana human resources department.

Superintendent Bonnie Bareki confirmed the incident saying the woman faces charges of resisting arrest, going through a red light, malicious damage to property and assaulting police officers on duty.

She arrived at the station in a blue Nissan Almera. Police investigations are continuing and the woman is likely to go to court should she fail to convince the police to withdraw the charges.
