The officers say the quantity of the suspected drugs recovered in the two incidents suggests that the suspects may have been involved in drug trafficking.

Confirming the arrests, New Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari, said the first incident occurred in Mokgobelele Ward, where two men aged 30 and 41, who reside in the same yard, were found in possession of suspected dagga weighing approximately three kilogrammes.

'About 72 sachets of the substance had already been packaged into small packets ready for distribution, whilst the remainder was still unpackaged,' said Rari.

In a separate incident at Letsibogo Ward, police arrested two other men aged 30 and 47 after they were allegedly found with suspected dagga weighing about 800 grammes.

Rari said the pair failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin and possession of the substance, leading investigators to suspect that they could be involved in drug-dealing activities.

All four suspects have been detained and remain in police custody whilst investigations continue.

'The substances have been sent to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Looking at the quantities recovered, we strongly suspect that drug use and distribution are prevalent in Letlhakane,' Rari said.

He added that police continue to receive reports indicating that dagga has found its way into local schools, raising concerns about the growing accessibility of illicit drugs amongst young people.

Rari further revealed that the quartet is expected to appear before the Letlhakane Magistrate's Court later this week for arraignment.

Police have urged members of the public to continue reporting suspected drug-related activities as efforts to curb the spread of illegal substances in the village intensify.
