The milestone concert featured a strong lineup of performers who each delivered standout sets in tribute to the veteran musician’s enduring legacy.
Lebo KM and Punah opened the evening with captivating performances that showcased their individual artistry.
They were followed by Gala, who began her career as Shanti Lo’s backing vocalist before establishing herself as a successful solo artist.
Reflecting on Gala’s inclusion in the celebrations, Shanti Lo said her journey represented the growth he has witnessed throughout his career.
“Having a person such as Gala on the lineup, who used to be my backing vocalist, it’s really exciting because I’m able to, with her help, showcase growth,” Shanti Lo said.
Shanti Lo closed the show with a commanding performance that reminded audiences why he remains one of Botswana’s most respected entertainers.
Early in his set, he was joined by legendary jazz musician, John Selolwane for a brief but memorable scat duet and a selection of Afro-jazz numbers, creating one of the evening’s defining moments.
From there, the celebrated singer held the audience in the palm of his hand, delivering favourites from his extensive catalogue, including the beloved ‘Love of My Life’.
His crisp vocals and effortless stage presence kept revellers engaged throughout a performance that blended nostalgia with contemporary flair.
The concert ended on a high note as fans demanded an encore, singing and dancing along in a fitting tribute to an artist whose music has soundtracked generations.
In one of the evening’s most emotional moments, Shanti Lo’s mother addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to the industry colleagues, collaborators, and loyal supporters who have stood by her son throughout his career.
Speaking to ShowTime after the show, Shanti Lo said the celebration was about honouring the people who helped shape his journey.
“I think it was important for us to mark this milestone with a celebration like this one so as to pay homage to all those people who supported the brand along the way,” he said.
Shanti Lo also used the occasion to highlight the challenges faced by local creatives, calling for greater recognition and support for the arts sector.
“We continue to shine out there, but we don’t get enough from our ministry compared to the sporting fraternity. “Just like the sporting fraternity, we also represent Botswana outside. We also are very excellent.”
The veteran artist further revealed that he is compiling footage for an upcoming documentary that will chronicle his remarkable 25-year journey in music.
A stalwart of Botswana’s music and creative landscape, Shanti Lo continues to embody the discipline, innovation, and consistency that have defined his career.
His silver jubilee celebration served not only as a tribute to the past, but also as a reminder that his influence remains as strong as ever.
