Notwane need discipline - Zulu

Toronto had a bad start to the 2008-2009 campaign when they lost two consecutive games to Gaborone United (GU) and BMC.

The losses raised eyebrows in the football fraternity and some Notwane supporters wondered whether it will be a season of pain again. The club spent most part of last season in the wrong end of the Premier League table and avoided relegation at the eleventh hour.

Toronto suffered the ignominy of fighting relegation despite the fact that it had recruited good players like Jackie Mothatego (Uniao Flamengo Santos), Tebogo Sembowa (ECCO City Greens) and Nelson Sefhedile (TASC).

After the poor start this season, the club has recovered to register two wins against Police XI and Naughty Boys. The recovery has been masterminded by former Notwane player, Zulu, who has been tasked with coaching the team until the arrival of a Zambian tactician.

'Notwane are capable of competing strongly with the likes of Mochudi Centre Chiefs but we need to have disciplined players. When I arrived, there was no seriousness hence the team struggled in the opening games.

' But I managed to rectify this. All that is needed is to correct the few problems and the team will be okay,' he said.

Toronto started the season without some senior players because of what is said to be indiscipline. It is understood some of the players thought they were bigger than the team. 'The management has to play its role to ensure that Notwane compete strongly,' Zulu said. He asserted that given the necessary support, he can lead Toronto to greater heights. However, he said that when the new coach arrives, he will pave way for him.

'That is the agreement. I will be in charge until the coach comes. I do not have a problem with that and I will continue watching from the stands like I have been doing,' he said. Meanwhile, Notwane spokesperson Cyrus Mogashoa pointed out that they have agreed terms with a Zambian coach who is expected to arrive in the country next week.

Initially, the new coach was supposed to start work yesterday but it is understood that he asked for time because his club in Zambia is playing a cup final this weekend. Information reaching Mmegi Sport indicate that chances are high that the man who might be joining Toronto is George Luandamina.

Notwane were left without a coach after they sacked Zimbabwean Paul Moyo following a dismal performance in the Coca-Cola Cup.
