Packaging Manager (1) / Technical Services Manager (1)

Kgalagadi Breweries Ltd is a locally owned beer beverages manufacturing and distribution company with sites in Gaborone and Francistown.

We invite suitable applicants to apply for the roles of Packaging Manager and Technical Services Manager, both based at our Gaborone

Beer Plant.

Packaging Manager (1)

Job Purpose:

To manage and co-ordinate the packaging department (people,

plant, process and systems) in order to achieve the required

standard of product quality and output in the most efficient and

effective manner.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

l Lead the packaging team in a manner that engenders

ownership, empowerment and team interaction

l Lead the development of packaging team goals and ensure

these are communicated and understood by team members

l Conduct regular packaging team goal review sessions, and

conduct regular one-on-one and performance reviews.

l Ensure training need analyses are conducted and training

plans developed for team members

l Ensure appropriate competencies are developed in the team,

and ensure cross skilling occurs within the packaging team

l Safety and Housekeeping

l Ensure that the packaging team apply proper safety

and housekeeping procedures, and adhere to all legal

requirements when carrying out their tasks

l Ensure implementation of the appropriate SAB and legislative

policies (such as OSH act) on safety and housekeeping.

l Ensure that safety and housekeeping receive the appropriate

focus through regular checks and safety audits

l Where unsafe work practice have been identified, the

packaging manager is responsible for correcting this

l Ensures adherence to PPE policy

l General production housekeeping

l Safe maintenance practices audited

l Ensures adherence to SHE system requirements

l Drive the implementation of VPO in accordance with the zone

and plant implementation actions

l Drive safety and legal compliance in the packaging hall

Education & Experience

l BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree

l minimum of 5 years’ experience in Production Maintenance

Management with deep expertise in asset management

l Experience of managing and running a high speed packaging

line would be highly advantageous

l A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing people

l Demonstrated experience in driving commercial decisions in a

packaging hall (financial, operational, people)

Technical Services Manager (1)

Job Purpose:

To take the strategic lead for the technical services domain in the

brewery and to lead related Strategic Initiatives in the brewery,

it also entails ensuring corporate governance for equipment and

system integrity through the application of and adherence to

relevant Standards and Legislation.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

l Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines

and drive a safety culture to ensure safety in the work

environment

l As maintenance & environment pillar owner for the plant,

drive specific blocks within the maintenance & environmental

pillar maintenance pillar owner for the plant

l Use effective loss and waste analysis to identify gaps in the

plant maintenance, BTS & E&F system vs plant optimization

processes. Drive actions to close the gaps

l Lead budgeting commitments

l Manage engineering stores inventory to optimize working

capital

l Manage engineering stores, site maintenance, condition

monitoring, control and automation infrastructure

l Manage the utilities area, internal water treatment,

Effluent treatment and water recovery technologies, site

air, electricity, CO2, refrigeration and steam generation and

reticulation

l Lead the brewery of the future projects and technological

upgrades & migrations

l Interface with appropriate local government authorities

to ensure compliance to statutory policies with respect to

utilities plant

l Plan and execute the actions required to comply with the

applicable, local, state and municipality laws

l Manage the plant and department indicators to achieve

target

l Ensure a 3 year plan exists for maintenance and replacement

of obsolete C&A infrastructure and plant equipment across

sites

l Lead, coach and train team members

l Ensure continuous improvement in engagement of people in

the plant

Education & Experience

l Chemical/Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent

l 5+ years’ work experience

l Energetic, self driven and willing to work in different shift

patterns based on demand

l Government Certificate of Competency
