Mogoditshane police investigate rape

Confirming the incident, Mogoditshane Police Station acting commander, Superintendent Mompoloki Ramaphoi, said the matter was reported to the police on Sunday at around 11pm. According to Ramaphoi, the victim had earlier attended a wedding at a garden venue in the area. Later in the evening, after most guests had retired for the night, she reportedly asked a man known to her for a lift.
The two allegedly parked by the roadside and were chatting inside the vehicle when an unknown man suddenly emerged and attacked them.
'The victim was seated inside a car having a conversation with another man when an intruder pounced on them. He assaulted the man, who fled from the scene, leaving the woman behind,' Ramaphoi said.
The suspect allegedly grabbed the woman and dragged her into a nearby bush, where he raped her before fleeing. Ramaphoi said the man later returned to the vehicle but could not find the woman. He then drove away from the scene.
After that, the victim managed to find her way back and reported the matter to the police. Police have since launched investigations and are searching for the suspect, who remains at large.
'We have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest the suspect. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,' Ramaphoi said.
