BFA national executive member, Bathusi Rathari, had told journalists during a press briefing in Gaborone on Tuesday that the decision to cut foreign players will be implemented from next season.

However, in an interview with MmegiSport today, BFL chairperson Sipho Showa said it was an error on the part of the BFA.

'The BFA has assured the BFL that the statement was made in error. It was an unintentional mistake. We are both delighted that the quota for foreign players will be limited to three from the 2027–2028 season. So in the 2026–2027 season, the quota will still be five foreign players,' Showa said.
