With the massive investment, Betway Botswana becomes the title sponsor, and the tournament will be known as the Betway Clash of the Legends.

The annual one-day tournament will take place at the National Stadium on June 20, and this time will feature legends from two local sides, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers, as well as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates from South Africa.

This is a departure from the first three editions, which featured national teams. The first two instalments saw Botswana and South Africa legends battle it out before the tournament was expanded to include Namibia and Zimbabwe's yesteryear stars in 2025.

'This year, the Clash of Legends takes an exciting new direction. For the first time, we transition from national team legends to club football, a move that reflects deep-rooted rivalry, memories and emotions that club football has created over the years and generations across southern Africa,' said Sekhana Koko, Clash of Legends coordinator. Koko said on the eve of the tournament, there will be a welcome dinner and coaching clinics.

He hailed Betway Botswana 'for believing in the Clash of Legends and choosing to walk this journey with us.'

Betway Botswana country manager, Michelle France-Mabiletsa, expressed passion for the sport, emphasising that 'it is not just about the game'.

'On the pitch, it is about community, the history and heroes who have shaped the beautiful game,' she said. 'We are always and have always believed in investing in initiatives that bring people together, ignite sessions and celebrate excellence.' Last year's tournament was held in Francistown, but this year pitch action moves back to Gaborone, with tickets already on sale, with the cheapest going for P50, whilst for the grandstand fans will have to pay P100.

The first match will be at 10am, followed by the second semi-final at 12pm, with the third place play-off at 4pm, whilst the final is scheduled for 6pm.
