Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd owns the Karowe Diamond Mine in Letlhakane, which operates an Open Pit Mine and is now transitioning into the Underground
operation. The envisaged underground operation is currently undergoing construction in which two vertical shafts (Production and Ventilation) are being sunk and
will be followed by lateral development and subsequent ore extraction.
To this end, Lucara Botswana invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following positions, tenable in Letlhakane, to be part of this exciting

1. PROJECT MANAGER
Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager leads the
planning and delivery of underground projects, ensuring safe, timely, cost
effective, and high quality execution. The role manages scope, schedules,
budgets, risks, contractors, and resources, while ensuring compliance with
technical, contractual, statutory, and safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering, or
Construction Management, or an equivalent or relevant qualification.
Professional project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2
Practitioner, or equivalent.
Minimum ten (10) to fifteen (15) years post qualification experience in
the mining industry, with at least five (5) years managing underground
mining or underground construction projects.
Demonstrated experience in project planning, cost control, scheduling,
risk management, and contractor supervision within an underground
environment.
Strong understanding of mining legislation, safety standards, and SHE
compliance requirements.
Proven ability to manage multi disciplinary teams and work effectively
with contractors and stakeholders.
Experienced in draw bell design and construction.
Experience in long hole blasting and block cave mining.
Experience in trackless mining.
2. MATERIALS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Job Summary
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Materials Management Specialist
coordinates and oversees all materials management functions, ensuring that
materials and services procured meet required quality, specification, and
safety standards, and are available in good condition when needed. The role
is critical to maintaining uninterrupted production by ensuring the timely
availability of the right materials—including spare parts, mining consumables,
fuel, and explosives—in the correct quantities and at optimal cost.

engineering.
Minimum five (5) years in materials planning, procurement, or
warehouse operations, ideally in a mining or industrial environment.
Proven experience in Materials Management, or experience as a
Standards Officer and/or Quality Assurance Officer.
Must have worked in the Materials Management field as a Standards
Officer and/or Quality Assurance Officer
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Demonstrated negotiation and persuasive communication skills
3. PERSON IN CHARGE
Job Summary
Reporting to the Shiftboss, the Person in Charge supervises designated
underground workplaces, enforces safety standards, conducts legal
inspections, and ensures the correct execution of production activities

4. MULTI SKILLED OPERATOR
Job Summary
Reporting to the Person in Charge, the Multi Skilled Operator safely operates
multiple underground machines to support production and development to
ensure continuous mining operations.

Ability to work and operate equipment in confined space
Valid underground machine operator certificates (e.g., LHD, UV, Drill
Rig, Bolter)
Physically fit for underground conditions
Valid Class B Driver’s Licence
