The health and wellness expo build-up session focused on the theme 'The Mind-Body Link: How thought patterns contribute to Illness and Wellness'. Organised as a precursor to the main Health and Wellness Expo scheduled for May 16, 2026, the two-hour morning session featured insightful presentations from a distinguished panel of experts.

The guest speakers included Dr Thusang Gure (Healthcare Practitioner), Dr Keneilwe Mmopi (Physiologist), a Mind Education Expert from DTI, Reverend Chipo Mosupi (Marriage Officer), and Tshepiso Thabano (Dietitian). Their combined expertise highlighted how negative thought patterns can manifest physically as illness, whilst positive mindsets and healthy habits foster overall wellness.

Attendees engaged actively during the interactive session, which emphasised practical strategies for integrating mental and physical well-being into daily life. The VP stressed the importance of community-driven health initiatives in building a stronger, more resilient nation.

One attendee, resident and participant Boitumelo Kgosi, shared her takeaway after the session.

“I never realised how much my daily stress and negative thinking were affecting my physical health. Today’s discussions have truly opened my eyes. I’m leaving here motivated to change my mindset and lifestyle for the better,” she said.

The free build-up session forms part of ongoing efforts by the Gaborone Bonnington South constituency office to promote preventive healthcare and holistic wellness amongst residents. Organisers encouraged the public to attend the main expo on 16 May for more workshops, screenings, and health resources.

This initiative underscores the VP’s commitment to addressing both mental and physical health challenges facing Batswana, proving that investing in the mind-body connection is key to a healthier future.
