The move is aimed at making the cultural event more inclusive and accessible to communities across the country.
Speaking in a recent interview with Arts&Culture following her performance at the Stanbic Bank Music N Lifestyle Festival, where she shared the stage with Culture Spears, Charma Gal emphasised the importance of decentralising the festival. She noted that while the event has previously been hosted in Gaborone, Molepolole, and Tlokweng, locations all within a 100-kilometer radius of the capital, there is a growing need to reach audiences in more remote areas.
“This show should not just be held in Gaborone. Our fans are everywhere, and those in rural or remote communities should not be left behind,” she said. “Kgosi Ya Mosadi is a show for Batswana, and it is important that everyone connects with it,” she added.
The festival, which has steadily grown in popularity, was last year held at Royal Aria Stadium in Tlokweng, drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd. Its expansion beyond urban centers is expected to further strengthen its cultural impact and bring live entertainment closer to underserved communities.
Charma Gal revealed that preparations for this year’s edition are already underway, with a strong focus on improving both the artistic lineup and logistical execution. “Every year, we keep learning and want to improve. I can assure you it will be bigger than before. We want to make it more appealing and interesting, from the artists to the overall experience,” she said.
In addition to a potential venue change, fans can also expect new music from the artist ahead of the festival. Charma Gal confirmed that she plans to release fresh material to build excitement and enhance the overall experience for attendees.
The 2026 edition of the Kgosi Ya Mosadi festival is scheduled for August 29, and anticipation is already building among fans. With plans to expand its reach and elevate its production, the festival continues to position itself as a key event on Botswana’s cultural calendar.
As Charma Gal looks to take the show to the people, she says her vision reflects a broader commitment to unity, cultural celebration, and ensuring that no community is left behind.
