According to information shared on government’s official social media, Gaolathe held talks with Dangote earlier in the week as part of Botswana’s efforts to deepen intra-African economic partnerships.

The talks, described as early-stage engagements, covered co-investment opportunities and capital market participation, including possible listings on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE). Officials said the engagements align with priorities under National Development Plan 12 and the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme.

While in Lagos, the Vice President toured the Dangote Fertiliser Plant, which has an annual capacity of three million metric tonnes of urea, and the Dangote Refinery, a 650,000 barrels-per-day integrated refining complex.

The Dangote Refinery, one of Africa’s iconic industrial achievements, has become critical to continental supply as the global oil industry has been rocked by the US and Israel war against Iran.

Officials said a follow-up engagement in Botswana is expected to be considered by the Dangote group for June 2026.
