In his public address, Mhwasa confirmed that the investigative phase led by the Botswana Police Service has been completed and that all findings have now been handed over for legal review. He said after outlining the process that this transition is not procedural formality, but a decisive move toward determining criminal liability based on the strength of the evidence. The DPP’s office is now tasked with assessing whether the evidence meets the threshold for prosecution. This includes scrutinizing forensic reports, witness statements, and all surrounding circumstances linked to the case. He said that the DPP is expected to provide feedback by mid-May, offering clarity on the next legal step. Mhwasa emphasized that this stage represents the integrity of due process, where independent legal judgment takes precedence. He said that justice must be built on a foundation that can stand in court. For the nation, the case now enters a defining phase where investigation gives way to legal determination.
