Announced in Gaborone last week, the service is set to roll out in phases, beginning with liquor deliveries from four Pick n Pay Liquor stores in the capital.

Under the offering, customers can expect orders to arrive within an hour, with grocery delivery expected to be introduced in the coming months as the platform expands, officials said.

The collaboration marks a first of its kind partnership in Botswana, bringing together a national retailer and a locally developed digital platform to deliver large scale, on demand retail services.

Head of Retail at Pick n Pay Botswana, Leon De Lange, said the move aligns with the retailer’s commitment to supporting local innovation while enhancing customer convenience.

“Partnering with Wanzy allows us to strengthen that commitment while giving customers easier access to the products they trust,” he explained in a statement.

Founded by entrepreneurs Again Oabile and Tshiamo Kolanyane, Wanzy has rapidly grown since its launch in June 2025, evolving from offering food and pharmacy deliveries to becoming a multi service platform.

According to Kolanyane, the idea was born out of post COVID-19 challenges, where consumers faced fragmented digital services.

“This partnership allows us to expand into grocery delivery through a formal retail collaboration,” he said.

Beyond convenience, the initiative is expected to create jobs and support skills development in logistics and technology, positioning Botswana’s digital commerce sector for further growth.
