Pacers Experiential Events celebrates Jazz, Afro Pop

The event is billed for this Saturday at the classy Pacers Venue, which is located along Thamaga-Gaborone highway. It will be held under the theme ‘The signature soul and jazz affair-Position Jazz @ Pacers as a calendar highlight cultural event not just a concert’. Speaking at media briefing recently, Pacers executive director, Mpho Leonard emphasised that the event is curated mostly to celebrate jazz and afro pop rhythm which he called a “timeless music”.

According to Leonard, the event will not only focus on music as there will also be a fashion market for togs enthusiasts.

“There will be a fashion market area dedicated to celebrate our local traditional attires, also there will be a wine tasting area devoted for the experience of wine tasting,” he explained.

The annual event itself serves as a bridge to connect people with live music, lifestyle experiences and cultural sophistication as it attracts audience from all four corners of Botswana as well as abroad.

He alluded that drinks will be sold at a bar price.

“We do have VVIP, VIP and general area and they will have their own multiple bars, food serving points so that people can purchase drinks as many as they want without any struggle. “All the areas are going to be treated particularly similar with regards to provision of drinks, the only difference will be sitting arrangements,” Leonard added.

Decorated Afro-jazz artist and entrepreneur, Kearoma Rantao, was present to represent local artists at the press conference.

She said in a world where digital trends move so fast, “we need sanctuary for high art, we need a place where we can showcase our talent”.

“When a patron buys a jazz ticket, they expect authenticity, they want to hear the raw emotion of a vocalist,” Rantao told the media.

“Playing live is a magic, people want quality that is what you should expect at a festival of this magnitude where superstars will be performing,” she added.

Rantao also encouraged upcoming artists to respect their craft adding that they should not be afraid of the journey.

The event will feature both local and international artists amongst them Kelly Khumalo, Simphiwe Dana, Mahotela Queens, Ami Faku, Mafikizolo, Kearoma Rantao, Thabang Garogwe and Lizibo. DJs will be Bats Matash, Shaft People, Dj Lucy and Dj Tsix.
