According to officials of the oil and energy outfit, the application is designed to improve customer experience by turning every purchase into a rewarding opportunity, allowing customers to earn rewards on fuel and shopping transactions at Puma stations. These rewards can be redeemed for a diverse range of services and benefits across Puma Energy’s retail network and with select partners, including groceries, airtime and meals.
Speaking at the launch, Tendai Mwewa, Puma Energy’s General Manager for Botswana, highlighted the platform’s benefits.
“Puma PRIS is our way of thanking customers for choosing Puma,” she said. “It turns every routine fuel stop into something valuable. “With the rewards they earn, customers redeem their points in a Shop Express, buy fuel, lubricants and other services - whether for themselves or for friends and family. “It’s a loyalty that goes beyond the pump, spreading benefits across households and communities.”
Mwewa added that Puma’s investment in Puma PRIS reflects the group’s long-term commitment to building digital ecosystems.
“We believe this innovation, beyond benefiting our customers, should also support national development by advancing the digital economy as a catalyst for socio-economic growth,” she said.
For her part, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Agnes Mothobi, said the initiative supports Botswana’s Vision 2036 and the Sustainable Development Goals by advancing digital inclusion.
“The launch of the PRIS app contributes to the country’s digital transformation through secure cashless transactions, and greater transparency, helping citizens participate more fully in the digital economy,” she said.
The officials explained that the PRIS app was developed in response to clear consumer need for a platform that provides instant rewards, and partner benefits, all while being simple and user-friendly.
The slogan, “Fuel. Shop. Earn Points. Every time,” guides its straightforward use. Customers who have downloaded the app, simply show their QR code in the app to the forecourt attendant or at the till, to see points added instantly with each purchase.
Beyond rewards, the PRIS app functions as a financial management tool. It equips customers with tailored information that allows them to monitor spending, track consumption patterns, and plan more effectively. The platform automatically logs and categorises all transactions, providing clear dashboards and analytical reports that empower users to make informed decisions. The PRIS app marks a significant milestone in Puma Energy’s ongoing investment in digital innovation and customer-centric solutions, reinforcing the company’s commitment to advancing private-sector-led innovation and collaboration.
Puma Energy Botswana operates 45 retail sites, 30 of which include convenience stores, four airports and airfields and a 2,500 cubic meter storage capacity terminal. Beyond retail, the group is a key partner to commercial (B2B) customers across major industries.
