In a statement released today, BOSETU said it, 'informs its members and the general public of recent leadership developments within its National Executive Committee,” confirming a transition at the top brass.

Nyatso, who has been serving as the union's Publicity Secretary assumes the position after Rari was appointed Deputy Secretary at the Public Service Bargaining Council (PSBC).

The union noted that, “Following his (Rari) acceptance of the aforementioned post, the National Executive Committee (NEC) evoked Clause 30.1 to co-opt members to fill the vacant positions.”

The statement further read, “In accordance with the provisions of the BOSETU Constitution, the National Executive Committee has co-opted Nyatso into the position of Secretary General (SG)'.

The changes at top brass also saw Lethogonolo Palalani being co-opted as Publicity Secretary taking over from Nyatso further reshaping the leadership structure.

BOSETU paid tribute to Rari’s contribution while welcoming his new appointment, stating that it expresses full confidence that the Public Service Bargaining Council is in capable hands under his leadership given his track record of dedication, resilience, and commitment to the advancement of workers’ rights.

As Nyatso takes the reins, the union reaffirmed its stance, noting it “remains committed to advocacy for the welfare and rights of teachers as well as quality education in Botswana'.
