Their ambitious goal includes winning back the five Gaborone constituencies and 34 wards, a feat they managed in the 2019 elections. At the forefront of this drive is the newly elected regional chairperson, Kagiso Kwelagobe, who, having ascended unopposed to his position, stated that their primary mission is to ensure the party's rejuvenation and further strengthen its presence across the region.

'We need your unwavering support to rebuild our structures. Encourage those members who have become inactive to return to the fold. The time has come for us to work together as never before, so we can fulfil our promises to the people,' Kwelagobe urged. He emphasised that party unity and active participation are the keys to ensuring that the BDP remains relevant and robust.

'Let's make sure that all party activities are well-attended and that we keep the spirit of unity alive,' he added, underscoring the collective responsibility of every member. Central Committee member Orefitlhetse Masire also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of hard work and dedication.

She reminded members that whilst the BDP is no longer the ruling party, it must remain committed to intense election campaigning. 'Now more than ever, we must be diligent in our efforts to win the next elections,' Masire stated. 'Fundraising initiatives are crucial to this effort, and we must all contribute.'

Masire also made it clear that complacency would not be tolerated. 'This is not the time to pamper anyone,' she declared. 'Unity amongst our members is paramount, and our structures must lead by example.

'The newly elected members include chairperson Kwelagobe, vice chairperson Daniel Modise, secretary Moruti Lejota, treasurer Mokgwadi Nyame, deputy secretary Nametsegang Rampha, and deputy treasurer Tsobena Seleka.

As the BDP prepares for the 2029 elections, the new leadership remains determined to unify the party and rally its members towards electoral success, setting the stage for a competitive and strategic campaign in the years ahead.
