Gospel Music Awards 2026 live up to the hype

The event, themed 'A Sound That Transforms,' lived up to its promise, with attendees dressed to impress in their finest attire. Dressed in glittering dresses, suits, and stylish two-piece ensembles, the women stole the show, while the men turned heads with their neatly trimmed haircuts, floral shirts, and dashing coats and pants.
The who's who of local celebrities and gospel music giants were in attendance, making the event a truly star-studded affair.
MC Oratile Jezzel Kebakile and co-host Ossie Loshane, a mental health advocate and author, kept the energy high as they welcomed guests and introduced the various performances and award presenters.
The evening got off to a flying start with a soul-stirring performance by Zion House of Praise, setting the tone for a night of worship and celebration.
The awards ceremony saw some of the biggest names in gospel music take home the coveted trophies.
Matheke Leteane, a traditional gospel awards winner, received his award from prophet Joel Keitumele, while Evangelist Letso Mphela took home the best collaboration award.
Josh Rocky was crowned best gospel single winner, and Tshepo Zion celebrated his best gospel Zion win with an emotional dance, thanking God for being the beginning and the end.
Other notable winners included Shirley S, who scooped best female artist, and Leteane, who celebrated 25 years in the gospel scene with a best male artist win.
The best international artist award went to Thapelo Tsotetse from South Africa, while Hosanna Gospel Choir took home the best gospel group award.
The night was filled with memorable performances, including Keromilwe ke Modimo and Minister Tlo-tlo's infusion of traditional dance and gospel, Ayam Neloh's hip-hop gospel, and Dr. Joey Mofoleng's rousing rendition of 'Wena Fika Laka'.
Shirley S also treated the crowd to a soulful performance, leaving the audience in awe.
