HATAB Conference 2026 to reimagine Botswana’s tourism future

In a statement, the organisation revealed that this year’s conference will be held under the theme ‘Redefining Tourism Strategies to Reshape the Botswana Tourism Landscape.’ This year’s gathering signals a decisive shift towards innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth within the sector, officials added.
The much anticipated conference that has been scheduled for April 23, 2026 will officially be opened by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Wynter Mmolotsi.
Since its inception in 1985, the HATAB Annual Conference has stood as the tourism sector’s premier stakeholder engagement platform. According to organisers, this year, over 200 delegates, including industry leaders, policymakers, financial institutions, and community representatives are expected to gather together to explore the future of Botswana’s tourism model.
Regarding the theme, HATAB noted that it is exemplary and befitting as it urges industry players to traverse with times.
“This year’s theme underscores the industry's dedication to fostering long term and sustainable growth,” added the statement.
HATAB highlighted that the conference is more than just a dialogue platform, but a catalyst for actionable change.
Central to discussions will be how Botswana can maintain its competitiveness as a world class destination while adapting to shifting global travel trends.
Key sessions will explore strategic areas such as air connectivity, land concessions, labour productivity and investment opportunities, all anchored on strengthening community participation.
The conference will also feature deep dives into tourism data and sustainable practices aimed at informing future policy direction.
