According to Serowe Police Station commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng, the matter was reported around midnight by the suspect himself.
Oteng said the suspect alerted his grandmother after realising that his girlfriend was unresponsive following a dispute between the two. He then reported the matter to a senior police officer in Mogorosi village.
“After noticing that his 24-year-old girlfriend was motionless, the suspect informed his grandmother about their fight and went on to wake a senior police officer in the village to report the incident,” Oteng explained.
Police attended the scene and rushed the woman, a Mokale Ward native, to the hospital, where she was certified dead on arrival by the doctors.
The suspect, who is from Moswanyane Ward and also resides in Mogorosi, was immediately arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
Oteng noted that the couple had been living together and that the exact cause of death remains unknown, as the deceased had no visible injuries.
“We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to establish what could have led to her death,” he said.
