Mahalapye Central Assistant Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Malakia Gabana, confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased, a native of Serowe, was discovered in a decomposed state after being reported missing for four days.

Gabana said the man allegedly left home whilst visibly troubled and failed to return, forcing concerned family members to report his disappearance to the police.

“Upon receiving the report, we initiated a search operation which led to the discovery of the body hanging from a tree on the fourth day of continuous searching, approximately three kilometres from Tewane village,” he said.

Police have since opened an investigation into the matter, although foul play is not suspected at this stage.

Meanwhile, Gabana has urged members of the public to seek help when facing personal challenges rather than resorting to taking their own lives. He encouraged those in distress to confide in trusted community structures such as dikgosi, church leaders, and the police, who are available to offer support.
