This morning his lawyer, Busang Manewe updated the court on the approach of their defence. “This matter is scheduled for status hearing today and we would like to update the court that the defence will call only one witness,” Manewe said.

Manewe told the court that the defence will only call one witness being the accused. “We will call one witness being the accused person with sworn evidence,” he said.

The State on the other end represented by Mmapatsi Tshimologo concluded its prosecution after lining up numerous witnesses to prove its case.

Chief Magistrate, Mmesi proceeded to set the matter for June 25th for Malema's testimony.

Malema stands accused of raping an 18 year old UB student (names withheld) back on January 9, 2024. It is alleged that the now-retired lecturer sexually violated the complainant when she had gone to the accused’s office to enquire about her marks. The case continues.
