The matter is in relation to the 2017 National Petroleum Fund (NPF) saga. In along side co accused -Sharifa Noor and Alphonse Ndzinge- after their charge sheet was read out to them , Seretse informed the court he needed more time to engage legal representation.

Addressing the court when asked by Regional Magistrate, Mareledi Dipate if he has any legal representation, Seretse said at the moment he is riding solo. “I am appearing alone today without any legal representation at the moment,' Seretse said.

In previous court cases, director of DPP Kgosietsile Ngakaagae acted as Seretse's lawyer before taking up the new position at DPP.

In light of this, the court asked Seretse if he needed some time to appoint an attorney that will represent him in the matter in the charges laid against him.

'I will need some time but not much of it to appoint an attorney, ' he said.

Despite appearing without a lawyer, the court proceeded to grant Seretse and co bail with State's non opposal for bail for all the accused.

The bail conditions are that each accused person should bind themselves with P20 000 each and provide two surieties each binding themselves with P10 000 each.

Seretse and his co-accused face allegations linked to financial crimes involving over P62 million in the NPF scandal with the matter expected to continue on April 14 for status update.
