Moatlhodi weeps as uncle is chased away

' I broke down and could not hold back the tears at the sight of my beloved uncle being chased away from a meeting that he wanted to attend to appreciate the reasons that led to my recall from the constituency,' the BDP maverick legislator explained after the BDP Central Committee meeting yesterday.

The BDP Central Committee members - chairman Daniel Kwelagobe, secretary general Jacob Nkate, chairman of the disciplinary committee, Isaac Seloko and executive secretary Dr Comma Serema - were in a delegation that addressed the closed-door meeting at the Panorama Hall in Tonota.

The meeting was called to inform Tonota South constituents about the party's decision to withdraw Moatlhodi from its list of candidates for the 2009 general election.

' I was devastated when Montsho was sent away just like that. In fact, for the last 10 days, I have been so devastated my wife has been affected by the whole thing as well,' said Moatlhodi who added that his children have been praying for him so he could cope.

'I told Serema that it was unfair for him to have sent my uncle away just because he is a Botswana National Front (BNF) activist. I needed the man to console me during this hour of need. In the end I could not control myself as I felt hurt by Serema's action.' Moatlhodi said Montsho had just returned from Rome, Italy, and wanted to get the story from the horse's mouth.

The main disappointment, he said, 'I confide in him and the fact that he could not be allowed to appreciate his nephew's 'sins' shocked me.'

BDP diehards milling outside the Panorama Hall could not believe their eyes as their MP cried like a little child. Some of them provided a shoulder to lean on in the hour of need, saying he had every reason to cry because he has been an effective BDP legislator.
