The University of Botswana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the below position.

FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

Department of Chinese Studies

Lecturer in Chinese Studies (Contract Position) * REF: Vacancy No. IRC 3109

Requirement: Applicants should possess: (i) a PhD in Chinese Studies, Teaching Mandarin Chinese as a Second/ Foreign Language, or related field; (ii) a Master’s degree in Chinese Studies, Teaching Mandarin Chinese as a Second/ Foreign Language or related field; (iii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Studies, Teaching Mandarin Chinese as a Second/ Foreign Language or related field of at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (iv) show evidence of engagement in research.

UNIVERSITY TEACHING EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT: added advantage

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) teach courses on Chinese society, culture, economics and politics (taught in English) for the Chinese Studies Programme; (ii) teach undergraduate level courses in Mandarin Chinese for the Chinese Studies Programme; (iii) teach research proposal and supervise undergraduate students’ projects; (iv) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department including research; (v) and carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Programme Coordinator and Chair.
