Kick-off is at 7pm. The two giants have been experiencing contrasting fortunes, with Chiefs amongst the most stable sides in the league, both on and off the pitch this season.

The Kgatleng giants have been cruising well ever since the arrival of Spanish coach Miguel Torreira earlier this season. Magosi are unbeaten in 2026 with six victories and two draws.

The four-time Premier League champions are currently sitting in position three with 44 points, nine behind log leaders, Gaborone United (GU). A 1-0 win over fellow title contenders, Jwaneng Galaxy, last weekend should be motivation enough ahead of their encounter against Rollers.

One major attribute they have mastered under Torreira is their ability to close down their opponents. They have conceded just one goal in eight games this year.

The same cannot be said about their arch-rivals, Rollers, who have been facing a turbulent time outside the pitch. The Gaborone giants’ financial problems have been well documented, leading to FIFA sanctions, including a transfer ban.

The problems have spilt onto the pitch with Rollers only registering two wins in 2026. One game ended in a stalemate, and lost five.

Out of eight games played this year, they have already conceded 12 times and found the back of the net only four times. Against a defensively disciplined side like Magosi, Rollers will be forced to dig deeper if they are to come out with a victory.

Fresh from their 4-0 drubbing at the hands of GU in last weekend’s derby, head coach Oarabile Seabo was a concerned man and recommended psychological support for his players, suggesting that the current problems faced by the club could be taking its toll on players.

Despite earlier reports this week that players were threatening to boycott training because of delayed payment of salaries, the club, through its social media platforms, confirmed training sessions are well underway in preparation for the encounter.

Rollers will once again rely on the experience of the likes of captain Simisane Mathumo as well as Mosha Gaolaolwe. The two understand what is at stake when Rollers and Chiefs meet, and that pride is always at stake.

Thatayaone Ramatlapeng will once again lead the attack, and whether his speed and skill will be enough to unlock Magosi’s rear-guard remains to be seen.

Chiefs, on the other hand, have all it takes, particularly on offence. With Gilbert Baruti set to direct proceedings, Evans Rusike’s experience will also be key going forward.

The match was originally scheduled for Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, but has been moved to GU Stadium because of anticipated heavy downpours in the north.

Meanwhile, log leaders GU face Matebele at the GU Stadium this evening. Tomorrow. Sowa Council Stadium hosts an interesting clash between Sua Flamingoes and Nico United. Extension Gunners take a tricky trip to Palapye to face a stubborn side, Morupule Wanderers.
