Police XI on Sunday afternoon saw their journey in the knockout competition come to an abrupt end after suffering a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to Tlokweng United. The two sides had played to a 1-1 draw in the normal time before Tlokweng United showed nerves of steel in the shootout in their own backyard to advance to the next round of the competition.
On paper, the Jungle Kings were seen as the favourites ahead of the encounter considering their current form in the elite league. They had just come out of a famous victory against Nico United who have been a difficult side to beat this season.
On the other hand, Tlokweng United are battling to secure their status in the lower division. But ahead of this encounter, they surprised many when they beat log leaders, Prisons XI in the league.
The victory seems to have boosted their confidence going into the Cup game as they had all the answers for the Jungles Kings’ questions.
In another interesting encounter, Jwaneng Young Stars also progressed to the next stage of the competition following their 2-0 win over Dinare FC.
Notwane on the other hand were eliminated after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Holy Ghost.
Tsetseng United, who are currently facing a dreaded axe in the league, shocked the football fraternity over the weekend when they knocked out Thamaga Shooting Stars in penalty shootout.
