'HIV is not just a theory, it is not academic, it is not a distance issue - it is life,' Moilwa said, her words resonated with the audience. 'I see faces, young people, stories, resilience, and myself. Behind every percentage is a young life navigating hope, fear, stigma, and college,' she said.

Moilwa's speech highlighted the need for true partnership and collaboration between young people, governments, and partners. 'Our future was born from the idea that lived experience is not a weakness, it is expertise,' she said. 'We believe it is expertise, and this network is more than just a structure - it is a promise,' she further stated.

The BJR Network, a coalition of young people living with HIV, is committed to shaking the status quo and moving beyond tokenism. Moilwa urged young people to take ownership of their leadership roles and for partners to listen and work together.

'Real partnership requires courage, listening, and community,' she said. 'We are not just attending meetings, we are shaking them,' she explained.

UNICEF Representative, Samuel Phiri, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of youth leadership in accelerating HIV response outcomes. 'When young people lead, systems transform, and outcomes accelerate,' she said. 'I want to thank the government of Botswana for its stewardship in the HIV response and for setting an example for the region,' said Phiri.

The event celebrated the launch of the BJR Network, a testament to the power of young people driving change. Moilwa's message was clear: 'You belong here, your leadership is needed today. I want to see true leadership within you today,' she said.

The BJR Network is a beacon of hope for young people in Botswana, providing a platform for them to take charge of their lives and demand action. As Moilwa said, 'We are a very large group, making up more than 300 young people in Botswana and within BJR. We will not be silenced, we will not be ignored.'

The event concluded with a call to action, urging all stakeholders to work together to address the HIV epidemic and empower young people to lead the way.
