Implement rigorous cost-tracking measures to ensure high-intensity exploration campaigns remain within the fiscal parameters set by Huakan Group.

4. Risk Management, Health & Safety (HSE)

Identify operational risks (e.g., environmental hazards, equipment failure, or logistics in the Kalahari) and implement robust contingency plans.

Ensure all field operations strictly adhere to the Botswana Mines, Quarries, works and Machinery Act to maintain a zero-harm workplace.

5. Client & Regulatory Relations

Act as the primary liaison between Huakan International and the Department of Mines and Botswana Geoscience Institute (BGI).

Address technical and commercial inquiries from stakeholders, ensuring transparency and professional representation of the company’s interests.

Core Competencies

Leadership: Ability to manage diverse, multicultural teams in high-pressure field environments.

Technical Savvy: Proficiency in interpreting geological reports and resource modeling to make informed management decisions.

Compliance Expertise: Deep understanding of the Botswana Minerals Act and environmental permitting.

2. OPERATIONS MANAGER

Focus: Strategic Operational Oversight & International Compliance

Position Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for the systematic execution of Huakan’s mining and exploration portfolio in Botswana. This role ensures that complex field programs are transformed into streamlined, cost-effective, and safe operations. You will act as the operational bridge between the Botswana subsidiary and the Chinese parent group, ensuring international standards meet local regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Project Execution & Resource Allocation

Direct the end-to-end operations of exploration licenses, prioritizing resource allocation (personnel, machinery, and fuel) to meet drilling targets.

Synchronize project schedules with seasonal constraints (e.g., rainy season logistics) to ensure year-round efficiency.

2. Process Standardization & Cross-Cultural Integration

Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that bridge Chinese corporate standards with Botswana’s mining industry best practices.

Serve as the primary driver for cross-cultural team synergy, ensuring seamless communication between expatriate technical experts and local Botswana staff.

3. Management Optimization & Value Establishment

Rigorously manage project budgets, focusing on reducing “non-productive time” (NPT) in field operations.

Conduct cost-benefit analyses on procurement (e.g., local vs. international sourcing) to maximize the economic return of each exploration phase.

4. HSE Governance & International Compliance

Design and enforce a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) framework that exceeds the requirements of the Botswana Mines and Minerals Act.

Lead incident investigations and safety audits to maintain a “Zero Harm” culture across all remote project sites.

5. High-Level Stakeholder & Supply Chain Coordination

Manage critical contracts with drilling companies, geophysical consultants, and logistics providers, ensuring high service-level agreements (SLAs).

Resolve complex commercial disputes and operational bottlenecks to keep project momentum steady.

6. Data-Driven Reporting & Business Intelligence

Synthesize raw field data into high-level performance analytics for the Board of Directors and Group Management.

Provide actionable insights on project “burn rates” and technical progress to support rapid executive decision-making.

Core Competencies

Logistical Mastery: Proven ability to manage supply chains in remote, semi-arid environments (like the Kalahari).

Financial Literacy: Strong command of project accounting and cost-control software.

Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Botswana’s environmental (DEA) and mining (Department of Mines) permitting processes.

3. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT

Focus: Strategic Growth, Mineral Rights Acquisition & Stakeholder Diplomacy

Position Overview

The Business Manager is the strategic architect of Huakan’s commercial presence in Botswana. This role is responsible for identifying high-value mineral targets, negotiating complex joint venture (JV) agreements, and ensuring that the company’s “Social License to Operate” remains strong. You will lead the effort to expand Huakan’s footprint in the Kalahari Copper Belt and other emerging mineral provinces.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Market Expansion & Asset Acquisition

Identify and evaluate new Prospecting License (PL) opportunities through the Botswana Geoscience Institute (BGI) and private acquisitions.

Drive business growth by identifying under-explored mineral terrains and presenting investment cases to the Chinese parent group.

2. Competitive Intelligence & Mineral Economics

Monitor the activities of competitors (e.g., Sandfire, Khoemacau, and HBIS) to position Huakan advantageously in the local market.

Analyze global metal price trends (Copper, Nickel, Lithium) to provide data-driven recommendations on project acceleration or divestment.

3. Contractual Governance & Legal Compliance

Lead negotiations for Farm-in/Farm-out agreements, Joint Ventures, and service contracts with technical consultants.

Ensure all business activities align with the Botswana Companies Act and the Mines and Minerals Act, minimizing legal exposure for the parent group.

4. High-Level Stakeholder Diplomacy

Act as the primary commercial point of contact for the Ministry of Minerals & Energy and the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC).

Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with local land boards, tribal authorities, and environmental agencies to ensure smooth project entry.

5. Commercial Risk & Dispute Resolution

Proactively resolve commercial bottlenecks, such as land access disputes or supplier contract deviations, ensuring zero downtime for field operations.

Manage the “Commercial Risk Register,” identifying potential threats to the company’s investment in the region.

6. Executive Reporting & Strategic Insights

Produce quarterly “Market Outlook” reports for the Tianjin head office, focusing on Botswana’s political stability, fiscal regime changes, and exploration trends.
