Rain, slow jams define RnB on the Lawn

By 2 pm, many events scheduled around Gaborone had either been postponed or relocated due to the unforgiving weather. However, RnB on the Lawn, true to its name, remained firmly planted on the grass at the Grand Aris Hotel. The rain poured steadily until around 5 pm, casting doubt over the much-anticipated grown-and-sexy affair, but organisers had already erected tents and completed the stage set-up, determined to see the event through. While some revellers were seen retreating from the gates as the drizzle persisted, others chose patience, and their loyalty paid off.
As the rain eased later in the evening, the atmosphere slowly transformed. Dressed in chic, laid-back ensembles befitting the occasion, attendees came ready to sing, sway, and celebrate. From the decks, event organiser DJ Frostbite led the musical journey, delivering a seamless blend of nostalgic slow jams. He was joined by Macxwabana and DJ Quest, among others, who kept the tempo balanced between soulful sing-alongs and upbeat modern RnB. As timeless classics echoed through the speakers, the crowd responded with passion, singing at the top of their lungs and dancing, strangers bonded over shared lyrics and memories attached to the music. Even when light showers briefly returned later in the evening, the energy refused to dip. Now in its second year, RnB on the Lawn continues to cement itself as a lifestyle staple for the mature crowd and grown crowd.
