Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd owns the Karowe Diamond Mine in Letlhakane, which operates an Open Pit Mine and is now transitioning into the Underground operation. The envisaged underground operation is currently undergoing construction in which two vertical shafts (Production and Ventilation) are being sunk and will be followed by lateral development and subsequent ore extraction.
To this end, Lucara Botswana invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following position, tenable in Letlhakane, to be part of this exciting underground mine development.
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER
Job Summary
Reporting to the Occupational Health & Safety Superintendent, the Occupational Health & Safety Officer is responsible for facilitating the implementation of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programmes within the work packages for Underground Projects in accordance with mining standards and Occupational Health & Safety legislation, thereby providing a safe and healthy environment for employees, contractors and visitors.

Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental health / Environmental Science or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining environment preferably underground mining and construction.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 • Knowledge of relevant mining related legislation
i.e. Mine, Quarries & Machinery Act and Public
Health Act.
• Class B Driver’s Licence. • MS Office Proficiency
