This marked a significant institutional rebranding aligned with its long-term academic vision and continental footprint. The event brought together parents, staff, learners, and education stakeholders, serving as both a symbolic and strategic reset for the school as it positions itself for the future of education.
GIS Executive Head, Hannelie Raubenheimer, said the rebranding reflects both growth and alignment with a broader network of schools across Africa. “I am also proud to share with you this morning that we have grown in numbers, and we are standing at 3,010 students that we have daily. Three thousand and ten students, parents who entrust their child’s education to us daily,” she said.
Raubenheimer also explained that GIS has evolved into a flagship institution within AdvTech, following the group's expansion into Ethiopia and Kenya. “GIS has become the big sister of these schools and a bigger and larger footprint within Africa. It is therefore only appropriate for GIS to look and feel the same as the rest of the family of schools. As such, GIS will now be known by a new and fresh logo, one which aligns with a long-term vision to deepen our impact on Botswana education while being recognised together with a bigger footprint within Africa,” she said.
She added that the rebranding goes beyond visual identity and speaks to the school’s educational philosophy and responsibility to prepare learners for a complex future.
“The future will not belong to those who memorise. It belongs to those who can analyse, create, collaborate, and have the courage to navigate an uncertain and changing world,” Raubenheimer said.
GIS has proven to be a pioneer in the learner journey across all phases of the school, demonstrating how the institution has transformed its learning environment and delivery model.
At the pre-primary level, the school has shifted from basic infrastructure to purpose-built learning spaces designed to support early childhood development through play-based and exploratory learning, supported by modern classroom design and digital tools.
In the primary school, technology-enabled classrooms, robotics integration, and personalised digital learning platforms have reshaped teaching and learning, allowing learners to develop foundational competencies in science, mathematics, literacy, and problem-solving while progressing at an individual pace. At the high school level, the focus has expanded to academic rigour, learner wellbeing, and future readiness, supported by data-driven instruction, specialised subject teaching, and systems designed to track learner progress and support holistic development.
School leadership emphasised that these reforms are aimed at producing graduates equipped not only with academic qualifications, but also with values, character, and leadership capacity.
The Registarar Botswana Teaching Professionals Council (BOTEPCO) chief executive officer, Raphael Dingalo, addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of quality education and institutional transformation in preparing learners for national and global participation.
The unveiling of the new logo served as the centrepiece of the event, symbolising GIS’s repositioning as a modern, future-focused institution while maintaining its foundational values.
The rebranding marks a new chapter for the school as it strengthens its identity, enhances its learning model, and consolidates its role in shaping future-ready graduates within Botswana and beyond.
