Despite the excitement that hung over the venue that afternoon, the organisers were concerned about lack of sponsorship.
The Dot 3x3 Basketball Ladies League marketing manager, Angela Segotso, has since pleaded with corporate partners to come on board and assist in the growth of the game.
“We experienced some challenges, including harsh weather, forcing us to change the venue from the University of Botswana (UB) to Molapo,” she explained.
“That led to a delay in setup time and forced us to start late. The entire medical team was not present during the games, which hindered smooth operation. Medical coverage remains a critical gap which we are working on resolving.”
Segotso added that despite the challenges, the players put in great effort.
The Dot 3x3 league is designed to empower young women through the spirit of basketball.
It comprises eight teams, each with two players under the age of 24, one under 18, and one mentor above 24, fostering responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. During the Molapo edition, Dream Dribble emerged victorious once again, securing back-to-back wins and solidifying their position at the top of the league standings with 300 points.
The standout performer was Lone Moloi, a one-year-old talent from Elite Academy. She has now claimed the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title for both Stop one and Stop two, underscoring her consistency and skill.
Over the weekend, she contributed an impressive 19 points, further cementing her reputation as one of the league’s brightest rising stars. League standings 1. Dream Dribble 300 pts 2.
