The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has asked former Mares coach, Alex Malete, to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against him following a recent social media post.

Malete, a BFA development officer, who doubled as Mares coach, was recently relieved of his duties as national team coach. In a parting note, he thanked former president, Maclean Letshwiti for support while he made no mention of the current BFA leadership. The post reportedly riled authorities at Lekidi Centre, with BFA president, Tariq Babitseng, indicating disciplinary proceedings will be instituted if Malete has contravened his contract terms. Sources said Malete received his 'show cause' notice on Monday and is expected to have responded by February 28.
