The deceased, 61, is suspected to have fallen from a moving donkey cart whilst travelling alone. He was later discovered by passerby from a nearby farm who were passing through the area.

Police revealed that the deceased was lying in the middle of the road in the bush, trapped between the donkeys that were pulling the cart.

The incident was confirmed by Mogoditshane Police Station acting commander, Assistant Superintendent Mompoloki Ramaphoi

He explained that preliminary investigations suggest that the man fell off the cart whilst it was in motion and got trapped in its chains, sustaining serious neck injuries.

'He was rushed to Princess Marina Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning,' Ramaphoi said.

'Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.'
