As an annual lifestyle event listed on the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) Calendar of Events, the cruise continues to position Botswana as a leader in innovative and diverse tourism experiences.

Recognised as the first silent disco boat cruise of its kind in Botswana and the Chobe region, this groundbreaking initiative reimagines the traditional boat cruise experience.

“Unlike conventional cruises, guests enjoy five hours of live DJ performances through state-of-the-art wireless headphones, allowing them to select their preferred music channel while eliminating noise pollution,” Rachel Benedict, director of World Style, told Arts&Culture in an interview. Benedict was quick to emphasise that the eco-friendly innovation preserves the tranquillity of the iconic Chobe River ecosystem, offering uninterrupted views of natural landmarks such as Sedudu Island, breathtaking Chobe sunsets, and the region’s rich aquatic wildlife.

“The 2026 edition is strategically scheduled to welcome travellers and athletes attending the Kazungula Bridge Marathon, further strengthening event and entertainment tourism in the region. Beyond entertainment, the initiative promotes tourism diversity, glamour, youth employment, and cross-border cultural collaboration within the KAZA region,” she said.

Benedict disclosed that this year’s exciting DJ lineup features Kasane’s renowned DJ Mr Rural, alongside regional heavyweights including DJ Fatso from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe; DJ Phibz from Livingstone, Zambia; and one of Harare’s most outstanding figures, DJ Munya and a surprise act. She further indicated that together, they will ignite the cruise in an environmentally conscious celebration along the mighty Chobe River.

“The Silent Disco Boat Cruise is more than an event but it is a game-changing lifestyle experience that blends music, nature, innovation, and sustainable tourism in one unforgettable journey,” Benedict concluded.
